In the American Gothic episode “Christina’s World,” while a death on the Hawthorne estate gives Detective Brady Ross (Elliot Knight) a solid lead on the “Silver Bells Killer,” Garrett Hawthorne (Anthony Starr) starts to pursue the daughter of the first “SBK” victim, Christina Morales.
Christina is portrayed by Catalina Sandino Moreno. The Colombian-born actress is known for her roles on The Affair (Luisa), Falling Skies (Isabella), East Los High (Eddie’s Mom), Red Band Society (Eva Palacios), and The Bridge (Alma Ruiz), among others. Moreno is also recognized for her roles in the films A Most Violent Year (Luisa), Fast Food Nation (Sylvia), and the heartbreaking 2004 film Maria Full of Grace (Maria Alvarez), for which she was nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Moreno is the first Colombian to be nominated for an Oscar. American Gothic airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.
