62-year-old singer Ronee Martin got off to a rough start during her audition for Season 11 of America’s Got Talent. Luckily, AGT judge Simon Cowell was in a forgiving mood and saw or heard something in Ronee. He asked her to sing a different song. She knocked the socks off of everyone when she belted out Miss Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman.” (Video below.)
Martin sang backup on the Patti LaBelle song “I”m Scare of You” which is on LaBelle’s 1989 album Be Yourself. Martin also co-wrote the song “This is Love,” which was recorded by her idol, Gladys Knight and the Pips. Martin will have to nail it the first time around during the first round of AGT Judge Cuts. Cowell and crew will be joined by guest judges Ne-Yo and Reba McEntire, both of whom know a thing or two about singing. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
