A trailer for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the highly anticipated Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix, was released (see below). The four 90-minutes episodes will be available during Thanksgiving weekend, beginning Friday, November 25 at 12am PT. TV Line writer Matt Webb Mitovich posed the question: “Will Gilmore Girls Hurt Black Friday?” TV Line fans took the question seriously.
A fan of TV wrote: “I don’t honestly believe that Gilmore Girls will have the kind of appeal that eases Black Friday. But I wish it would, because Black Friday is a bad joke at the best of times, a humanity-eroding calamity at its worst…But also, Black Friday shoppers could go online and shop, concurrently while indulging in GG.” While Jacki Whitford writes that she was “dying laughing at the thought of people staying home on Black Friday to watch,” she considers the scenario: “Most companies now offer sales online prior to or on Black Friday and on Cyber Monday. You can do all your shopping online and still watch Gilmore Girls. Or you can binge watch after you get all your shopping done. Easy Peasy.”
