The TV movie The Night Stalker is based on real life sadistic serial killer and rapist Richard Ramirez. He terrorized the city of Los Angeles in the summer of 1985. After murdering 13 people he was caught and put on death row for close to 30 years before his death in 2013 (from complications related to B-cell lymphoma). The protagonist of the movie is Kit, a defense attorney who visits Ramirez in San Quentin. She wants Ramirez to confess to crimes her client has been wrongly accused of.
Ramirez is portrayed by Lou Diamond Phillips. Kit is portrayed by Bellamy Young. Young is known for her roles on Scandal (Mellie Grant), Criminal Minds (Beth Clemmons), Scrubs (Dr. Miller), Dirty Sexy Money (Ellen Darling), and CSI: Miami (Assistant State Attorney Monica West), among others. The Night Stalker premieres June 12 at 9pm on Lifetime.
