Drowning Pool is a heavy American heavy metal band from Dallas, Texas. That double use of heavy is no accident. The band’s stomp-rocking brain-jarring hit “Bodies” from the 2001 album Sinner was anthemic for that post 9-11 moment in time, with its surface rage striking a deep shattering chord. Sure the “Bodies” video was viewed more than 30 million times, but could you have guessed it would move 82-year-old engineer John Hetlinger to make his stage debut? The courtly gent with a major career as a Navy pilot and an engineer behind him went hardcore nuts with “Bodies” while auditioning for America’s Got Talent. “Let the bodies hit the floor!” he screamed with conviction.
