In The Carmichael Show episode “Maxine’s Dad,” Jerrod’s live-in girlfriend Maxine (Amber Stevens West) is graduating. On her big day, she receives a visit from her wealthy father who gets her a job offer — and a check — as a gift. He and his offer prompt “a debate about independence, family dynamics and whether or not love can be bought.”
Maxine’s dad is portrayed by Adam Arkin. He’s known for his roles on How to Get Away with Murder (Wallace Mahoney), Fargo (Hamish Broker), State of Affairs (Victor Gantry), Masters of Sex (Shep Tally), Justified (Theo Tonin), Sons of Anarchy (Ethan Zobelle), 8 Simple Rules (Principal Ed Gibb), The West Wing (Dr. Stanley Keyworth), and Chicago Hope (Dr. Aaron Shutt), among many others. He is the son of Alan Arkin. The Carmichael Show airs Sundays at 9pm on NBC.
