On The Big Bang Theory Season 9 finale “The Convergence Convergence,” it’s a family mash-up. When Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) mother Mary (Laurie Metcalf) stops by for a visit, Leonard’s (Johnny Galecki) recently divorced parents Drs. Beverly (Christine Baranski) and Alfred Hofstadter also come to town.
Alfred is portrayed by Judd Hirsch. The native New Yorker is known for his roles on Forever (Abe), Damages (Bill Herndon), Numb3rs (Alan Eppes), Dear John (John), and Taxi (Alex Reiger), among many others. Hirsch is also recognized for his roles in the films Ordinary People (Berger), Independence Day (Julius Levinson), and A Beautiful Mind. Fun fact: Before being an actor, after getting a degree in physics from City College of New York, Hirsch served a tour in the US Army and worked as an engineer for Westinghouse. The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8pm on CBS.
