In the TV movie The Maid, a young college student named Laura Blackwell receives a series of anonymous disturbing messages and threats. At first she thinks it’s her jealous ex-boyfriend but when she moves across the country, the stalking continues. Laura’s suspicions shift to her family’s house maid Collen (Fay Masterson) and for good reason!
Laura is portrayed by Kathryn Newton. She’s known for her roles on Supernatural (Claire Novak), Dog with a Blog (Emily Adams), Mad Men (Mandy), Gary Unmarried (Louise, Jay Mohr’s daughter), and All My Children (Colby Marian Chandler). Newton is also recognized for her roles in the films Paranormal Activity 4 (Alex) and Bad Teacher (Chase Rubin-Rossi). She’s currently filming the new HBO series Big Little Lies with Laura Dern, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicole Kidman (Newton plays Kidman’s daughter). Big Little Lies is based on the 2014 novel by Liane Moriarty. Newton also finds time to play a lot of golf (see video below). The Maid premieres on Lifetime on May 28 at 8pm. It will air again on May 29 at 12am, June 10 at 8pm, and June 11 at 12am.
