Todd Komarnicki is the screenwriter of the upcoming biopic Sully. Tom Hanks will play Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who landed a commercial airliner on the Hudson River in 2009 and saved all of his 155 passengers. The Clint Eastwood directed film will be released on September 9, 2016. Now Komarnicki is trying his hand at directing. He’s been given the green light to direct The God Four starring Jai Courtney (Divergent, Suicide Squad) and Oscar winner Michael Douglas (Wall Street, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest — he produced the latter).
Courtney plays Rob Carrey, a documentary filmmaker who, on the eve of his tenth school reunion, learns that his old friend on their championship rowing crew committed suicide. Douglas plays their former coach. The God Four is based on Ron Irwin’s 2014 novel Flat Water Tuesday. (His former teacher, Nobel Prize winner J.M. Coetzee praises the book on the dust cover.) Michael Douglas will discuss the project on Megyn Kelly Presents on May 17 at 8pm on FOX.
