Kendrick Lamar is everywhere now, including on the as-yet-fantasy European tour with Snoop, Dre, and Eminem. When he utterly owned the stage at Austin City Limits back in 2013, he was the only rapper on the bill. It was just after he announced he was after the crown on Big Sean’s “Control.”
Nobody has worn the crown and collected the jewels longer than LL Cool J, who will share the bill with Lamar at this year’s Austin City Limits. As the ACL site says, LL is the “first rap artist to amass ten consecutive platinum-plus selling albums. The multi-platinum artist and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee is currently tied for third place for most Billboard chart debuts by a rapper.” But it’s Lamar’s show now. He’s one of the headline acts, along with Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem and Mumford & Sons. A 3-day GA ticket to the festival — September 30-October 2 — will run you $255. You can grab tix here.
