The two-part finale of American Idol will air Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday, April 7 at 8pm on FOX. On Wednesday, the Top 3 contestants – La’Porsha Renae, Dalton Rapattoni and Trent Harmon — will perform at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. On Thursday, before the fifteenth and final American Idol is announced, a plethora of Idol alumni will appear including Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, Jordin Sparks, and Clay Aiken. And that’s just a start.
Lots of celebrities are sharing their thoughts about the conclusion of the show including actress Emily Osment who gave this shout out to American Idol as it comes to an end: “The show where Ryan Seacrest taught a nation how to send a text message.” Viewers at home were able to vote via text messaging during Season 2 (AT&T Wireless was a sponsor). 7.5 million text messages were sent that season. By Season 8, 178 million texts were received.
