Hollwyood actor/director/producer Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea, Precious) is narrating The Passion on FOX. It’s a musical that tells the story of Jesus from the Last Supper to the Resurrection — and it’s set on the streets of New Orleans. Most of the actors are professional singers including pop star Seal (Pontius Pilate) and country singer Trisha Yearwood (as Mary, the mother of Jesus). Jesus Christ is portrayed by JenCarlos Canela who currently starring in Telenovela with Eva Longoria.
Judas, the disciple known for the kiss and betrayal of Jesus, is portrayed by Chris Daughtry. The 36-year-old singer is best known for making it to the finals of the fifth season of American Idol. Fun fact: Daughtry’s fourth album is titled Baptized (2013) which includes the single “Traitor” (lyrics video below). The Passion airs Sunday, March 20 at 8pm on FOX.
