In the When Calls the Heart episode “A Time to Speak,” while Jack (Daniel Lissing) and Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) take the kids camping, Abigail (Lori Loughlin) discovers the criminal past of the new man in her life, Frank Hogan. But when the townsfolk of Hope Valley find out pastor Frank (aka Matt Landry) is a fugitive – wanted for robbery and public misconduct, they turn on him. It’s up to Abigail, who’s known not to give up on people, to remind the town that a person can change.
Frank Hogan is portrayed by Mark Humphrey. The Canadian actor grew up doing commercials as a kid and then moved to New York to study with acting legend Lee Strasberg. When he returned to Canada, he landed a number of roles, mostly on Canadian TV. Humphrey says humbly: “I’m not a famous actor. I’m plugging away. It’s my passion. It’s what I love to do. I’m really happy to be working on this show.” Fun fact: Mark’s 28-year-old son Luke Humphrey is an actor, too. Luke’s mother, Wendel Meldrum, acts, too. You might remember her as Kevin’s English teacher Miss White on The Wonder Years, and/or Leslie the low-talker on Seinfield, Kramer’s friend who makes Jerry’s puffy shirt. When Calls the Heart airs Saturdays at 9pm on Hallmark.
