Arise, Sir Ivan! Legendary singer Van Morrison has been knighted in Buckingham Palace by Prince Charles. The 70-year-old from Belfast, famous for such hits as “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Gloria”, and “Baby, Please Don’t Go” received the honor “for services to the music industry and tourism in Northern Ireland.” George Ivan Morrison will now be known as Sir Ivan Morrison although his fans will no doubt still refer to him simply as Van the Man.
Sir Ivan assured a concerned Prince Charles that he has not made any retirement plans. “He was just saying, was I still writing? And he said: ‘You’re not going to retire any time soon?’ And I said: ‘No, I’m not, I’m going to keep it going while I can’.” (No Plan B, you might say.)
