All the actors nominated for an Oscar — including Cate Blanchett (Carol), Brie Larson (Room), Bryan Cranston (Trumbo) and Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant) — will receive a swag bag at the Academy Awards. It’s a tradition. This year the bag of pampered goods is worth $200,000. The Los Angeles company that organizes the bags, Distinctive Assets, describes the contents as “a blend of fabulous, fun and functional items meant to thrill and pamper those who may have everything money can buy but still savor the simple joy of a gift.”
The bags will include a first-class trip to Israel ($55k), a walking tour of Japan ($45k), and a Steamist. The tricky thing about accepting a Steamist is that it involves welcoming a stranger into your Malibu mansion. The $5,000 steam generator must be installed — in a vanity, a closet, attic or basement — in order to convert your shower or bath into a luxurious steambath. A Steamist promises to release tension, help sleep better, soothe and rejuvenate sore muscles. A Steamist should come in handy the day after all those Oscars after parties. The Oscars will be televised on February 28, 2016 at 7pm on ABC.
