In The Mysteries of Laura episode “Mystery of the Unwelcome Houseguest,” an extremely handsome madman named John Dunham (hey, he takes his shirt off when building a bomb) corners NYPD detective Laura Diamond (Debra Messing) in her own home. Dunham thinks Laura framed him for the murder of his father, perfume mogul Michael Dunham. At gunpoint, Laura tries to convince him that she didn’t. She asks him to help her find another suspect.
John Dunham is portrayed by Jerry O’Connell. He’s known for his TV roles on Las Vegas and Crossing Jordan (Detective Woody Hoyt), and Sliders (Quinn Mallory). O’Connell is also well known for his roles in the films Stand by Me (Vern Tessio), Jerry Maguire (Frank Cushman), and Veronica Mars (Sheriff Dan Lamb). Or you might recognize his voice from the animated series Jake and the Never Land Pirates (Pip the Pirate Genie). O’Connell is currently starring in the new Showtime drama Billions (Steven Birch) with Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. P.S. He’s married to model-turned-actress Rebecca Romijn. The Mysteries of Laura airs Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.
