One of the brunette contestants on The Bachelor, Lace Morris, made quite the impression on the first episode. When she stepped out of the limo, she surprised Ben Higgins with his first kiss of the season. And then when it came out to give out the roses, Lace was not happy with the ceremony. Although she did receive a rose, she wasn’t happy with the lack of eye contact from Ben during the scene. While some viewers at home find Lace too harsh – she does throws f-bombs from time to time – some find Lace refreshing.
One of Lace’s supporters is Tracy Ludlow, a fellow real estate agent in Denver who also holds the title of 2012 Mrs. Colorado Globe. During the first episode of The Bachelor, Ludlow wrote: “Way to go #Lace! “Well behaved women rarely make history.” That quotation – which uses the word seldom instead of rarely – was coined by historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich during the “second-wave feminism” of the 1970s. When Lace Morris was asked “If you could be someone else for just one day, who would it be and why?” she didn’t mention Ulrich or Gloria Steinem. She replied: “Honestly? No one. I’d just be me — but richer! :)” The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
