Josh Hanson was 29 years old when he traveled to Minneapolis for a dart tournament. After he and two friends lost the tournament, they started to drink a lot and horse around in the hotel where they were staying. After a long night, they took the elevator up to the 17th floor. One of Hanson’s friends poured ice down his shirt. When they got off the elevator, Hanson took off his shirt and ran down the hallway. Hanson’s depth perception had been altered by alcohol. He accidentally ran through the window at the end of the hall and fell.
Hanson’s 260 pounds of weight cushioned his landing and he survived. Hanson tells his harrowing (well-cushioned) story on the show My Fat Saved My Life which premieres on TLC on December 30 at 8pm.
