Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant character in the popular new CBS TV show Supergirl calls herself the “Queen of All Media.” Sound familiar? Howard Stern, the self-declared “King of All Media”, thinks so. Stern mentioned the similarity of the two royal titles this week on his show. (He’s been watching Supergirl.) Fortunately for Cat and company, Howard knows when something is theft and something is pure praise. And he thinks the nod to his nickname is pretty cool. Turns out Supergirl showrunner Ali Adler is a Howard Stern fan, so the nod is an honor. (Some stars — not Stern — might have their lawyers checking whether they could exact a fee for the borrowing.)
Cat Grant is obviously a pretty complicated character. She’s got a dose of Howard Stern in her, we now know. And that’s added to a character mix that was described earlier as “J.Lo by way of Anna Wintour.”
