On Reign, while pressure mounts for Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) to marry, Mary (Adelaide Kane) receives a pressing message from her mother, Marie de Guise, about the state of Scotland. (It’s not good.) Mary hasn’t seen her “complicated and fascinating” mother for years. Reign’s executive producer Laurie McCarthy promises Marie de Guise will face off with Francis’s mother Catherine de Medici (Megan Follows), and “Hearts will break and blood will spill as a major battle of wits ensues.”
Mary’s mother is portrayed by Amy Brenneman. She’s best known for her role as Judging Amy, but she’s done so much more. The Harvard grad who studied comparative religion is also recognized for her roles on Private Practice (Dr. Violet Turner), Frasier (Faye Moskowitz), and NYPD Blue (Officer Janice Licalsi). Brenneman is currently starring in The Leftovers (Laurie Garvey). Reign airs Fridays at 8pm on CW.
