Former adman Donny Deutsch tried his hand as TV host in real life. Now he’s playing one on TV. Deutsch is playing a fictionalized version of himself on the scripted show Donny! (exclamation is his). During an interview with Fox 5 Good Day, the real Donny Deutsch compared the show to Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. “I play a much more idiotic, buffoon version of myself,” Deutsch says. “I’m the butt of the joke.”

On Donny! his character Donny is surrounded by powerful women who control his Dr. Phil-like advice show. Deutsch goes as far to say, “It’s a very feminist show.” Filmed in Donny Deutsch’s real townhouse in Manhattan, the show will feature cameo appearances by his celebrity friends including Christie Brinkley, Billy Bush, Regis Philbin, and Matt Lauer. Donny! airs Tuesdays at 10pm on USA, right after Chrisley Knows Best.
