Charlie Sheen will appear on the Today show on Tuesday to make a “revealing personal announcement,”and there is widespread speculation that the actor will announce he is HIV Positive. Last week a blind item appeared in The Sun which stated that a famously womanizing Hollywood star had HIV and had known about it for several years. “The actor’s list of exes includes an award-winning actress, a religious movie star, a top Hollywood personality with a controversial past, a TV star, a media personality and a glamour model,” read the article, the source of which claimed “he’s distraught about the possibility of the illness becoming a defining quality of his career.”

As soon as the story broke, Hollywood insiders began narrowing down the possibilities. Sheen has a well-known history with escorts, adult film stars, and drug abuse. If he does reveal that he is HIV Positive, the ramifications of the story are immense. “Obviously it would be a huge story, but the reality is HIV is entirely treatable in this day and age and shouldn’t impact his ability to work or lead a normal life. It could be a game-changer in the understanding of HIV given that he’s a straight man,” said The Sun‘s source.
