On the new TV series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rebecca Bunch is an unhappy workaholic lawyer in New York City who leaves her choice job and apartment and moves to West Covina, California. Yes, the Ivy League lawyer (Harvard, Yale) makes one really big impulsive choice to reunite with a boy named Josh Chan, whom she dated in summer camp when she was teenager.
Rebecca is portrayed by the show’s creator/writer Rachel Bloom. The Los Angeles native actually did the opposite of Rebecca. She moved to New York and studied at NYU where she was the head writer and director of the school’s sketch comedy group Hammerkatz. Soon after, she joined the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Bloom made her first big splash with the music video “F*ck Me, Ray Bradbury” (see below). The 28-year-old is also a writer for the TV series Robot Chicken. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend airs Mondays at 8pm on The CW.
