Season 2 of the HBO hit The Leftovers opens in the Texas town of Jarden (aka Miracle) where the Murphys live. On the outside, they appear to live an idyllic life. The man of the house is John Murphy, a fire fighter. His wife is Erika Murphy (Regina King) is a doctor who works at the local clinic. They have two children — a God-fearing son Michael and fun-loving daughter Evie. When Kevin (Justin Theroux), Nora (Carrie Coon) and Jill (Margaret Qualley) move in next door, the Murphys invite them for dinner. When John mentions that he spent 6 years in prison, things change.
John Murphy is portrayed by Kevin Carroll. He’s appeared in several films including Being John Malkovich, Jesus’ Son, The Secret Lives Of Dentists, and Kenneth Lonergan’s Margaret. Carroll has also been seen on many TV shows, from ER to Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He most recently had a recurring role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The Leftovers airs Sundays at 10pm on HBO.
