On Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) forget they’re hosting a dinner party at the house which leads the three roommates to some serious scrambling. And then Callie (Sara Ramirez) shows up with her new girlfriend Penny. Unbeknownst to Callie, Penny is the red-headed doctor who wasn’t able to save Meredith’s husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey) the night he died. It was the worst day in Meredith’s life, and now she’s forced to live through it again upon seeing Penny in her home. P.S. Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), Callie’s ex, isn’t too excited to see Penny, either.
Penny is portrayed by Samantha Sloyan. She’s appeared on many TV shows including Rizzoli & Isles, Criminal Minds, Parks and Recreation, Castle, and The Fosters, among others, but she’s best known for her recent, recurring role on Scandal (Jeannine Locke). Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
