Standup comedian and actress Sarah Silverman sits down with James Lipton for a taping of Inside the Actors Studio. Silverman talks about her recent role on Showtime’s Masters of Sex. She plays Helen, a lesbian in the 1960s who wants a baby. Silverman’s real-life lover Michael Sheen plays Bill Masters. Silverman says of Sheen: “He really classes me up and I just pull him right down to my level,” which gets a lot of laughs from the audience. Lipton asks Silverman, “You’re happy?” She says with sincerity, “Yes, I’m happy and I’m very lucky.”

Silverman also discusses her history with depression. She has been battling depression since she was 13. “Since then I’ve lived with depression and learned to control it, or at least to ride the waves as best I can,” she told Glamour. “I’m on a small dose of , which, combined with therapy, keeps me healthy but still lets me feel highs and lows.” Inside the Actors Studio airs Thursdays at 8pm on Bravo.
