65-year-old actor Randy Quaid was detained while trying to re-enter the US from Canada. Quaid’s recent life as a fugitive from the US and from “Hollywood star whackers” whom Quaid and his wife, Evi, say are out to get them brings to mind the famous line “just because you’re paranoid, doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.”
Quaid’s latest wild real-life role is probably his best one. (He was reportedly scheduled to be deported back to the US in mid-October, and so tried again to stay a step ahead of the law.) But Quaid has been memorable on screen too, which is why anybody cares about his fate. Nominated for an Oscar when he was 21 back in 1973 for The Last Detail, Quaid (not to be confused with younger brother actor Dennis Quaid) has had a long career in film. Here are some of his movies:
