In the new LMN series They Took Our Child: We Got Her Back, Midsi Sanchez tells her story of being kidnapped when eight years old in 2000. She was walking home from school, just a block away from home, when she was abducted by serial child rapist/killer Curtis Dean Anderson. For two days she was chained inside his 1984 Oldsmobile Firenza. “I knew my family would not give up on me,” Midsi says. Luckily, Midsi found a way out of the car, dared to escape, and was saved by a delivery truck driver.

It took years for Midsi to recover from her horrific experience. She said she “spent much of her teen years self-medicating with alcohol and drugs, and having minor run-ins with the law.” But now the 23-year-old is working as a missing child advocate. She’s also a mother. Midsi says she has no plans to let her 5-year-old walk alone to school. The Took Our Child: We Got Back airs Wednesdays at 10pm on LMN.
