The new CBS drama Code Black is set in the country’s busiest ER. Four first-year residents have been assigned to the ER under the direction of Dr. Leanne Rorish, who is portrayed by Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock). Rorish delivers lines like “Hesitate and people die,” and “Your instinct has to be sharper than your scalpel.”

One of the residents is 40-year-old Christa Lorenson. Code Black executive producer Michael Seitzman says of Christa, “Sometimes she needs to put her heart in check.” Christa is portrayed by Bonnie Somerville. The Brooklyn-born and raised actress is best known for her roles on NYPD Blue (Det. Laura Murphy), Cashmere Mafia with Lucy Liu, The O.C. (Rachel Hoffman), and Friends (Mona). Code Black airs Wednesdays at 10pm on CBS.
