The insanely great and versatile (MMA juggernaut, swimsuit model, actress) Ronda Rousey may not get to kick Floyd Mayweather’s butt anytime soon — though there’s speculation she could. But she’ll be kicking the tails of lots of Mayweather wannabes in a remake of Road House, the one Patrick Swayze movie people might watch even more times than they watch Ghost or Dirty Dancing.
Rousey — in the best bit of casting since, well, Swayze played him— will play the itinerant disciplined loner bouncer that Swayze indelibly inhabited in the original 1989 film. The gender switch the role makes now is easy, because Rousey could obviously do the job with aplomb. Now if the writers can only find a way to plant a Swayze Easter Egg in there — with a nod to Dirty Dancing — and have Rousey say something like “nobody puts baby in a corner.” Any MMA fighter can vouch for that.
