Michael Fassbender is apparently trying to outdo Tom Hardy in the ‘Hardest Working Actor’ category. The busy star has two upcoming movies, Macbeth and Steve Jobs, and has another six films in the works including a new X-Men movie and a sequel to Prometheus.) Having portrayed kings, mutants, androids, and visionaries, the actor is currently in talks to take on another iconic role: world-weary detective Harry Hole from Jo Nesbo‘s bestselling Scandinavian crime thrillers.

Variety is reporting that Fassbender is discussing playing the policeman in an adaptation of The Snowman. “Described as a loose cannon in the Oslo police force, the story has Hole investigating the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman.” The film will be directed by Tomas Alfredson (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.) If the movie is successful, expect to see Fassbender reprise the role: there have been ten Harry Hole stories so far. No doubt one of the first things they’ll need to do is have an extensive marketing campaign to teach audiences that the name is pronounced “Who-leh”.
