The Jeff Healy Band made the song “Angel Eyes” a hit in 1989. High school teacher Barrett Baber hopes to do the same as a contestant on Season 9 of The Voice. During his blind audition, all four judges – Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, and Pharrell – hit their buzzers. Blake and Adam hit theirs first, almost immediately. And then they all watch in amazement as Baber hits the high notes at the end.

Country star Blake Shelton is all over Baber, who’s from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Shelton immediately compares Baber to Garth Brooks but he doesn’t know for sure if Baber is a country singer. Baber says, “I’m trying to pioneer a new sound, country with a little soul.” Levine yells, “Yes, God bless you!” In a plea to get Baber to join his team, Levine adds, “I will destroy for you.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
