Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting’s lovable Penny will see her dad back for season 9 of The Big Bang Theory. Portrayed by veteran actor Keith Carradine of the Carradine acting dynasty, Penny’s father will make just his second appearance on the show this fall in episode 3. Carradine first zoomed into view on the Big Bang set back in 2010, when he gave the mysterious Penny some background in an episode titled “The Boyfriend Complexity.” (Don’t think Penny is mysterious? Then what’s her last name?)
[Fun Kaley Cuoco Quiz — 8 Simple Questions]
Carradine lends handsome star power to already radiant Big Bang universe. Son of Hollywood legend John Carradine, the former Broadway actor (he debuted in Hair in 1969) has recently been seen on TV in Madam Secretary. Carradine was a favorite of the great director Robert Altman, appearing in a number of Altman’s signature films including McCabe & Mrs. Miller. He’s got the weight (atomic weight?) and chops to get the laughs as Kaley’s dad, while deepening the story.
