Stephanie Bruner was a middle class, married mother of three kids. One night right before Thanksgiving in 2010, she allegedly went for a walk during a blizzard in the Colorado Mountains. That’s the story her husband Dale Bruner told the police. It turns out Stephanie had filed for divorce just days before she went missing. Stephanie was also having an affair with a married man in town. Three days after her disappearance, she was found dead in the Blue River. She was badly beaten, strangled and then dumped (still alive) in the river. She was 41.
Stephanie Bruner’s husband, her lover and the wife of her lover were all suspects — but it was Dale who was convicted of murdering Stephanie. He was sentenced to 112 years in prison. Stephanie Bruner’s murder is the focus of an episode of Dateline NBC on July 24 at 9pm.
