Rick Springfield is best known as the singer of the hit “Jessie’s Girl” but he’s actually has had 14 Top 40 hits. When he’s not on tour, he finds time to act and write books. Sure you might remember him as the pre-Grey’s Anatomy dreamy Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital in the 1980s but he’s currently starring in the new Meryl Streep film Ricki and the Flash. Streep plays the front woman of a rock and roll band. Springfield is on guitar. It hits theaters on August 7.
Springfield is also the author of two best-selling books. The first was his 2010 memoir, Late, Late at Night. The second is a novel, Magnificent Vibration. It’s about a young man named Bobby who steals a mysterious self-help book called Magnificent Vibration: Discover Your True Purpose from a bookstore. When he calls the 1-800 number on the book, he gets a direct line to God. Variety wrote of the 2014 novel: “This is not the prose of a rock star who decided to try his hand at novel writing, but of a novelist who just happens to be a rock star.” Springfield will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 29 at 11:30 on ABC.
