Harry Potter author JK Rowling owns a 17th-century home in Edinburgh. Surrounding the mansion are 30-foot-high hedges which occasionally need to be maintained. (The hedges are leylandii, or Leyland Cyprus, known to grow around 3-feet a year.) This week, contractors have been hired to work on the hedges, which involves putting up temporary traffic lights while they work.

Although Rowling did receive permission for the work, according to The Guardian, the construction has caused traffic disruption in the city and has “caused chaos, with major tailbacks building up on surrounding roads.”
