James Huling is the 31-year-old who left his retail job in South Carolina to compete on Big Brother 17. He comes across as a very nice guy who likes Taylor Swift and cats, just like Swift. (He left his cat Gizmo at home.) And he introduces himself as “the first hillbilly Asian on the show.” But life hasn’t always been easy for Huling.

After Huling lost his mother to cancer, he was sent to a boys’ home before being adopted as a teenager. Huling went on to serve in the armed forces and worked in corrections. Even with that tough background, Big Brother Network wonders if James is cutthroat enough for the show. He’s so easygoing and charming. BBN says: “Well if he can’t play ‘mean’ then he’ll have to stick with ‘fun’.” Big Brother airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm on CBS.
