Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters, please come. Please come and play. That’s what these thousand musicians in Cesena, Italy are asking Foo Fighters to do — and they are doing it in the most awesome way possible. That word gets overused, but this is an epic, awesome, miraculous request. Miraculous? Yup, that’s what Fabio Zaffagnini, the man who organized the one song concert, says. He spent a year thinking about nothing but this project. The thousand musicians came from all over Italy, “at their own expense…and for just this song.” Below is the Foo Fighters Rockin1000 Official Video.
After the epic rendition of Foo Fighters “Learn to Fly”, Zaffagnini takes the mic. “Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true, but it is a land of passion and creativity,” he says. “So what we did here is a huge miracle.” It’s the embodiment of one of the lyrics for sure: “Fly along with me, I can’t quite make it alone.” Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shiflett — they may all just move to Italy after this.
