Armenian-American businessman Kirk Kerkorian died on June 15, 2015. He was 98 years old. Kerkorian was known as the “father of the mega-resort,” as he built the world’s largest hotel in Las Vegas, three times – the International Hotel, the MGM Grand Hotel and the MGM Grand.
At his death Kerkorian was worth $4 billion. What a lot of people don’t know about Kerkorian is that he raised more than $1 billion for charity in Armenia through his Lincy Foundation. (It was named after his daughters, Linda and Tracy.) In 2011, the foundation folded. All of the funds (at that time worth about $200 million) were given to UCLA to create the “Dream Fund.”
