Ballet dancer Jim Nowakowski is auditioning for Team Stage on So You Think You Can Dance. He joined the Houston Ballet in 2007 and was promoted to Demi Soloist in 2013. His favorite ballet is Cinderella, which he performed as a Rochester City Ballet company member in 2002.

Once you see Nowakowski perform, you’re going to want more. As Molly Glentzer of the Houston Chronicle wrote after seeing La Bayadere, “I’d like to have seen more of Jim Nowakoski, who sprang to life briefly in a whizzy solo as a fire god in Act 1.” John Demers of Houston ArtsWeek agreed. “He is all excitement when he is (on stage), leaping from a temple pyre over prostrate worshippers and dancing impressively before leaping right back in.” Off stage, Nowakowski’s defining moment was when he received the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts Gold Award from Mikhail Baryshnikov in New York City. So You Think You Can Dance airs Mondays at 8pm on Fox.
