Christian Borle will perform live at the televised Tony Awards (June 7, 8pm, CBS). Borle is nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for Something Rotten!. Borle told The New York Post he modeled his character, a “William Shakespeare-as-preening-rock-star” after Mick Jagger, Prince and Britney Spears.
The 41-year-old actor has been in tons of Broadway shows including the 2000 revivial of Jesus Christ Superstar, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Monty Python’s Spamalot, and Legally Blonde, to name a few. Borle is also known for his roles on TV shows including Smash (Tom Levitt) with Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston and Katharine McPhee, Masters of Sex (Frank Masters), and The Good Wife (Carter Schmidt).
