Professional rock climber Meagan Martin of Boulder, Colorado is back on the obstacle course competition TV show American Ninja Warrior. Martin made ANW Finals history last year when she became the first woman ever to complete the Jumping Spider. Now she’s traveling to Kansas City to qualify for the 2015 American Ninja Warrior (June 1, 8pm on NBC).
Last year, Martin said she didn’t have time to train specifically for the show. She had three climb competitions at the time to train for. “I did go to the parkour gym a few times,” Martin said, “Luckily, I am in shape for climbing, and I think my background in other sports was helpful for my overall coordination.” Martin was a gymnast and pole vaulter. Plus, ANW doesn’t let the competitors practice. Martin explained to Climbing.com: “A tester shows you every obstacle, then you can watch from the warm-up area, but you can’t see everything from there and you can’t leave that spot, so there are still things you miss that might be beneficial.” American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
