Warren Jeffs is the former president of the FLDS (the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). FLDS is a polygamist community that lives along the Utah and Arizona border. Jeff’s father, Rulon Jeffs, was the FLDS leader before him. Warren is one of his father’s approximately 60 children. When his father died, Warren married “all but two of his father’s wives; one fled the compound, the other refused.”
Jeffs is a convicted felon. He is currently serving a sentence of life in a Texas prison for sexually assaulting two underage girls. The 12-year-old was one of his 70 wives. Jeffs is rumored to still be in control of FLDS from prison. He will be eligible for parole on July 22, 2038.
