Stock up on Canadian Club, Utz Potato Chips and Lucky Strikes, and tell your girl to hold all calls, because AMC is marking the official end of Mad Men with an epic series marathon. Before Don Draper steps off that bus in California (smart money says that is where Don, or rather, Dick Whitman is going to end up, although just this week another theory popped up), you can catch up on the entire series, beginning with the first episode on Wednesday at 6:00pm, and finishing with a repeat of last Sunday’s episode right before the finale. So if you’ve never seen the show and wonder what it is your friends have been excited about for all these years, now’s your chance to catch up. Finally you’ll understand the significance of “The Wheel” and why driving a lawn tractor can be hazardous.
Because AMC knows the series finale is pretty much the only thing anyone will want to watch on Sunday evening, the network is going to silence its sister channels. BBC America, We TV, IFC, and Sundance TV have no programs scheduled; instead they will all be airing a “special message,” though nobody seems to know what that will be (please let it be Pete Cambell falling down the stairs on repeat.) “Turning AMC over to Mad Men and airing every episode of every season as a lead-in to the finale on Sunday seems a fitting way to continue celebrating what this series has meant to the fans, to television and to our network,” said AMC President Charlie Collier. And when you settle in to watch more than 90 episodes of the show, you might want to make it more interesting by playing the Mad Men Drinking Game. If you’re not dead from alcohol poisoning, enjoy the finale!
