Kung Fury is a action comedy that pays homage to 1980s cop movies (Beverly Hills Cop, Terminator, Lethal Weapon). It’s over-the-top with headbands, boom boxes, video arcades and an injection of ancient dinosaurs and German Nazis — but the film is only 30 minutes long. And you can watch it now on YouTube for free. Oh, and David Hasselhoff sings the theme song, True Survivor, which is available on vinyl.
Filmmaker genius David Sandberg wrote, directed and stars as the title character. He started a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 to raise $200k for the project. He raised $630k. If the campaign reaches $750k, Sandberg plans to throw a special screening somewhere.
