American writer Flannery O’Connor will be on a new US postage stamp. The famous short story writer won the 1972 National Book Award for fiction for The Complete Stories of Flannery O’Connor. O’Connor was born in 1925 in Savannah. At her family’s Andalusia Farm in Georgia, she raised peacocks, hence the peacock feathers included in the portrait on the O’Connor stamp. O’Connor suffered from lupus and died in 1964 at the age of 39.
The Flannery O’Connor “forever” stamp, which is designed for 3-ounce packages ($0.93), will be available beginning June 5, 2015.
