At about the 4-minute mark of this video, the late legend B.B. King breaks a string during his impassioned performance of “How Blue Can You Get.” Nothing strange about that: King put his guitars — especially his beloved Lucille(s) — to work.
What is incredible is what happens afterwards. King continues to perform while he changes the string himself — right on stage. B.B. King played a million small clubs in his life, usually without an army of roadies at his whim, so he was used to caring for himself and his gear. And B.B. King sure wasn’t leaving the Farm Aid stage in 1985 even for a minute–there were 80,000 people in the crowd.
