Detective Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) meets his ex-fiancee’s (guest star Sarah Chalke) new boyfriend on Backstrom. Guess what? Backstrom doesn’t like him. Her new boyfriend is both handsome and in a position of power. He’s the Indian Reserve Police Captain, Jesse Rocha. Rocha is portrayed by Canadian Saulteaux actor Adam Beach, who in real life was raised on the Dog Creek First Nations Reserve.
Beach is best known for his roles in Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers, Windtalkers with Nicholas Cage, and Cowboys & Aliens with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. On TV, Beach is best known for his roles as Tommy Flute on Big Love and as Chester Lake on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He’s currently filming Suicide Squad with Scott Eastwood and Jared Leto. Rumor has it Beach will be playing villain Slipknot. Backstrom airs Thursdays at 9pm on Fox.
