Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Moulin Rouge, Eyes Wide Shut) will return to the London stage to play Rosalind Franklin in “Photograph 51.” Franklin was a British scientist who helped discover DNA’s distinctive double-helix structure. Rosalind is considered a photographer, too. Photograph 51 refers to the crystal x-ray micrograph she created to help illustrate the double helix. The production will open on September 14 at the Noel Coward Theatre in the West End.
The last time Kidman was on a London stage was 1998 in David Hare’s “The Blue Room.” One critic at The Daily Telegraph called it “pure theatrical Viagra.”
