Dancing With the Stars celebrity contestant Nastia Liukin will perform an Argentine tango with her professional dancing partner Derek Hough. Like all the other contestants, Liukin had the opportunity to choose a song that best represents the most memorable year in her life. The retired Russian-American gymnast chose the song “Variations on Dark Eyes” performed by Canadian violinist Lara St. John.
It’s a special song for Liukin. She performed her floor routine to it at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where she won a gold medal. Liukin has proven to be a beautiful dancer to watch, but will the song selection bore her fans? Many other contestants are going with more pop-infused choices. Suzanne Somers will dance to the theme song of Three’s Company and Patti LaBelle will perform Jazz to her disco hit Dan Swit Me.
